Privacy Policy

Overview

ChaseDex ("we", "our", "the app") is a Pokemon TCG collection tracker for iOS. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Information We Collect

Camera Images

When you use the card scanning feature, your device's camera captures images of Pokemon cards. These images are sent to our servers for text recognition (OCR) processing only. Images are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers after processing is complete.

Collection Data

Your card collection (which cards you own, quantities, variants, and conditions) is stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, your collection is also synced to your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the app. This includes:

• App opens, screen views, and feature usage
• Scan attempts and success rates (no card images are sent to analytics)
• Collection size and general usage patterns
• App version and device type

Analytics data is associated with a randomly generated anonymous identifier. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or Apple ID.

Subscription Data

If you subscribe to ChaseDex Premium, your purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We receive only your subscription status (active/expired) and anonymous identifiers — we do not receive your payment details, Apple ID, or billing information.

Scan Counter

We store a count of how many free scans you have used in your device's secure keychain. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Your name, email address, or contact information (unless you email us for support)
• Your Apple ID or account credentials
• Your location data
• Your contacts, photos, or other personal files
• Microphone audio or biometric data (Face ID / Touch ID)

How We Use Your Information

• Card scanning: Camera images are processed for text recognition to identify cards. Images are discarded immediately after processing.
• Analytics: Anonymous usage data helps us understand which features are used, find bugs, and improve the app.
• Subscription management: To verify your premium status and provide premium features.

Third-Party Services

• Google Cloud Vision API — processes card images for text recognition
• OpenAI API — normalizes OCR text to identify cards
• PostHog — anonymous product analytics
• RevenueCat — subscription management
• Apple CloudKit — optional iCloud collection sync

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. Our servers (Cloudflare Workers) act as a proxy for the OCR and AI services — your device communicates with our servers, not directly with Google or OpenAI.

Data Retention

• Camera images: Not retained. Processed in real time and discarded.
• Collection data: Stored on your device and optionally in your iCloud. Deleted when you delete the app or clear your data.
• Analytics: Retained by PostHog per their data retention policy.

Children's Privacy

ChaseDex does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation or collect identifying information.

Your Rights

You can delete your local collection data at any time from the app's Settings screen. You can disable iCloud sync in your device's iCloud settings. Analytics collection uses anonymous identifiers with no way to tie data back to you personally.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
